How to Become a Christian
When God’s perfect creation, Adam and Eve, disobeyed God in the Garden of Eden, sin was introduced into the world.  Through Adam’s sin all people are born separated from God.  God’s holiness requires a payment for our sinfulness.  The Bible teaches that God the Father, Son and Holy Spirit agreed that the Son would come into the world in the form of a human being, live a sinless life and die on a cross to pay the penalty for our sins.  The entire Bible gives the account of this story.  Romans 3:23 tells us that all have sinned and come short of the glory of God.  Therefore, each human being needs to be rescued from the penalty of sin, and God sent His Son, Jesus Christ, to be our rescuer. Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.  For those who repent and accept God’s gift, eternal life in heaven is promised.  For those who reject the gift of God, their destiny is an eternity of torment in hell with Satan.  The choice of eternal life begins with the understanding that it is not God’s will that anyone should perish, but that everyone should come unto repentance (2 Peter 3:9).  John 3:16 says that God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him would not perish bur have everlasting life.  This eternal life is available to anyone who chooses to receive it, and meets God’s simple conditions:

1.Confess that you are a sinner, separated from God.  This means that you agree with God concerning your sinfulness.

2. Confess that you believe that Jesus Christ is God’s Son, and that God sent Him into the world, born of a virgin, to become the sacrifice for sins.

3. Believe that Christ died on a cross and was resurrected on the third day, victorious over sin, death and hell.

4. Repent of your sinfulness.  This means that you are sorrowful for your sinfulness, and desire to have them forgiven and cleansed by Christ.

5. Ask God to forgive you.

Romans 10:9-10 describes this in detail.  If you would like to know more, we encourage you to contact one of the pastoral staff at the church office. (link to staff page)
