HINES SIGHT

When we pray for revival how should we pray? Should we pray for our brother or our sister? Should we pray for a neighbor or the President?  By all means, we need to pray for revival for one another, but notice how the Psalmist says it in Psalm 85:6, “Will you not revive us again, that your people may rejoice in You?” (NKJV) Did you notice he asked for revival for us ? As we prepare for revival at Washington in three weeks please pray, and let’s all pray for that revival to begin in us!  How do I do that? First, take an inward look. Is there unconfessed sin in my life that I need to deal with before God can revive me? Sin builds a wall between God and us. Confession and repentance tears it down. Secondly, take an outward look. How are my relationships with people? If we harbor feelings of hate or ill will against somebody else God will not send revival our way. Jesus told us that we cannot even bring an offering to Him with that in our hearts. We must, first, go to our brother and get that relationship mended before we can even think of doing business with God. And then we need to take an upward look. How is my relationship with God. How can I expect God to send a revival to me or my church if I am out of sorts with Him? Have you neglected time in His Word or time with Him in prayer? You can do something about that today. Will you?  Let’s all tend to these very important matters. Not just for our own well being, but also for the sake of our church. We want revival and we need revival! Be faithful to God’s call today!

See you Sunday!

Your Pastor,

Drew Hines

Innerviews

The Apostle Paul addressed the church at Corinth with a plea for those who need to be reconciled to God.  If you notice his words in 2 Corinthians 5:18-20, God through Paul is not addressing those who need to be reconciled.  Instead, Paul writes to the believers, those who have been reconciled to God through Christ Jesus.  His words call us to the ministry of reconciliation (verse 18).  Verse 15 calls us out by saying “those who live should live no longer for themselves, but for Him who died for them and rose again.”  Notice the passion of verse 20 – “Now then, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were pleading through us: we implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God”.  Earlier in this chapter Paul reminds us that we all will stand before the Judgment Seat of Christ.  At that time we will be judged on how we fulfilled the task God gave us, and on how we dealt with the opportunities we had to be His witness.  Who has God placed around you that needs to know Christ?  Living for Christ includes seeing unsaved people as He sees them, as prisoners of war in the spiritual battle for their souls. We individually need to do all we can to bring those we know into His presence and the sound of His gospel – “for the love of God compels us” (verse 14)!Your fellow servant in Christ,

Joe
